Casino License Recommended for Lago in Seneca County

The Lago Resort and Casino, proposed for the town of Tyre in Seneca County, was on Wednesday one of three proposals across New York state recommended a casino license. Updated 12/17/2014 05:29 PM

The casino countdown is over. The state's gaming commission siting board has made its recommendations on where they think casinos should be placed across the state. Reporter Geoff Redick has more on which regions will be cashing in.

It's been a staple in the Southern Tier since 2006. Tioga Downs was one of three potential bidders vying for the casino license. But on Wednesday, they lost their hand to Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County. Alexa Green has more on the emotional reaction from Tioga Downs' owner, who invested a lot in the idea of a Southern Tier casino.

Fracking Ban Draws Mixed Reaction Across the Southern Tier

New York State residents finally have their answer to the controversial fracking question. During Governor Cuomo's cabinet meeting, officials with the state health department and DEC recommended a fracking ban because of all the risks associated with high volume hydrofracking.
