BATH, N.Y. -- One day after the anniversary of his ex-girlfriend's disappearance, an Elmira man is arrested and arraigned on a grand larceny charge.

New York State Police arrested David Perry on a warrant for grand larceny. Perry was named a suspect last year in the case of a missing Florida woman, Kelly Rothwell. She disappeared one year ago Monday.

Authorities say Perry obtained about $340,000 in New York State disability retirement benefits that he was not entitled to from 2005 until now.

District Attorney Brooks Baker says this case is unrelated to Kelly Rothwell's disappearance.

"Those allegations aren't relevant to our investigation. They aren't part of the process here. This is a separate and discreet incident that involves disability fraud here in New York State," said Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker.

Perry requested an adjournment in Court so he can hire a lawyer. He was remanded to Steuben County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.

He was indicted for insurance fraud last year. He will reappear in court next Wednesday. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
