All it takes is a dollar and a dream. Today is your last chance to buy your Mega Millions lottery ticket before tonight's big drawing for a record jackpot of $540 million. Our Brad Vivacqua has more from Rocky's on North Salina Street in Syracuse.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- At Rocky's in Syracuse, the Mega Millions tickets have been selling like hotcakes. As a matter of fact, they've been selling fast all over the country as they are available in 42 states.
The $540 million jackpot has grown more than $150 million since Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing failed to draw a top prize winner. That makes tonight's drawing the largest single jackpot in lottery history.
The previous record Mega Millions jackpot was $390 million and the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever paid to a group of New Yorkers is $319 million. But, just in case you're dreaming, the odds of winning the new record jackpot are one in about 175 million.
Still, there's a big rush to buy those last-minute tickets. And just by visiting social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, there's no doubt what the buzz is about today. Visit YNN's Facebook page and let us know what you'd do with the money if you were the lucky winner.
Don't forget, tonight's drawing is at 11 p.m.
