CANTON, N.Y. -- Farmer's markets are typically a summer tradition, but residents in Canton are keeping it going through the winter. A number of local farms will take part in the Canton farmer's market held in the Presbyterian church, which is right next to the summer location.

While there may not be the produce you're used to finding in the summer, there will be plenty of locally raised meats and baked goods. Local farmers say there are many benefits to eating local food, and they want that to continue through the winter.

"The food is definitely safer to eat. If you buy from anybody raising meat of any type it's smaller farms. There's also no stress to the animals so it makes better meat," explained Cathy Smith, of Smith Farms.

The Canton Farmer's Market runs Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Canton Presbyterian Church. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
