Your spare change and food donations will help the Food Bank of Central New York in a big way this holiday season. Bruegger's Bagels is collecting the donations this month as part of its 'Change Helping Change' campaign. Our Brad Vivacqua reports.
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Whether it's a few cents or a few canned food items, you're asked to think about the Food Bank of Central New York this holiday season. At the Bruegger's on Route 57 in Clay, there are two collection boxes: one for monetary donations and another for non-perishable food items.
You're encouraged to make donations at any one of six Bruegger's locations in Onondaga County through the month of December. Food items including soup, peanut butter, and rice will be sent back to the Food Bank's warehouse where it will be distributed throughout the emergency food network. Monetary donations will help the non-profit to acquire and distribute food and help fund nutrition education programs and initiatives.
"It really does help raise awareness, collects food, and collects money, so that we can continue our mission in Central and Northern New York. And, it was with partners like Bruegger's and other corporations and individuals in the community that we're able to do what we're able to do in the community," said Lynn Hy, CNY Food Bank Philanthropy Director.
Bruegger's has six locations in Onondaga County, so you certainly have your options to make donations when you get that coffee and bagel.
The Food Bank of Central New York services 11 counties throughout the region and is always looking for your help. If you would like more information, visit www.foodbankcny.org.
