ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Salvation Army in Elmira has struck gold, not once, but three times in the past two weeks.

The organization received two gold coins in an envelope at the Jubilee Market in Horseheads, which was where the first gold coin was donated. Organization members call it the 'golden Jubilee.'

The two coins were valued Tuesday and are worth between $400 and $500 each.

Organization members are honored they have received such donations.

"I am so thoroughly humbled that they would, somebody would take these, at least one of these, obviously, is from a collection, and drop them in our pot and trust us to do the right thing with them. To me, it's really inspiring that somebody would do that," said Maj. Craig Haggerty, Commanding Officer, Elmira Salvation Army.

Even with the recent donations the Salvation Army is still short of toys for 75 children. They will be accepting donations until Christmas Eve. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
