BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Manager of Nirchi's Pizza John Hanrahan says, "If you’re in this business and you’re not excited for a day like today, it’s time to find something else to do."

It’s no shock that Super Bowl Sunday means big business for Nirchi’s Pizza.

Nirchi’s Pizza Employee Sarah Rowlands says, "We try to keep it organized and communicate a lot. We try to just smile and get them in and out."

Hanrahan says, "We will probably go through over 200 full sheet pizzas, 50 half-sheets and several thousand wings."

And with local man Arthur Jones in the big game this year, customers are even more excited.

Hanrahan says, "People who otherwise may not watch, will. Just if they went to school in Endicott, they make a turnout."

Not all of Nirchi’s locations will be cooking for kickoff this year. The Vestal store has been closed since May, after a two alarm fire ripped through the building.

Hanrahan says, "I definitely hear from their customers who have been coming here, asking when they’re going to open; and hopefully for them, it’s sooner rather than later."

Hanrahan says he doesn’t think the Vestal location will have any problem getting back on its feet, because Nirchi’s has a niche in the community.

Hanrahan says, "We've seen it both times when we've had a flood. We saw an increase in sales, whether that was because people were displaced or unable to cook for themselves. In that sense, what we do is more for the community than business."

It's a give and take relationship in an area that comes together in good times and bad.
